SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has outlined a regulatory pivot that could reshape the crypto landscape. The agency plans to introduce innovation exemptions by December 2025, allowing crypto firms to launch products without facing incompatible or burdensome requirements. This move follows recent approvals of crypto ETF listing standards and signals a shift from the SEC's enforcement-heavy approach.

The exemptions, first proposed by Atkins in July, aim to create a stable platform for crypto product innovation. During a Fox Business interview, the chairman confirmed the SEC WOULD draft new digital asset rules in coming months while removing regulatory barriers for businesses. Market participants view this as a potential turning point for institutional crypto adoption.
